King of the River

Who will be the King of the River? Kenai or Soldotna? Let’s find out! July 2, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Kenai and Soldotna will compete to see which city is able to gather the most non-perishable food and monetary donations for the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. Every $1 donated is equal to about 1 pound of food. There will be two locations (Carl’s Jr lot in Kenai and Blazy Mall in Soldotna) for individuals to donate food or money—just look for the KPFB trucks. Although the competition will take place on the 2^nd, donations will be accepted for a week leading up to the event on-site at the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank, just tell them which city you’re donating from. Anyone who donates will be entered into a drawing to win $1,000. The winner will be drawn at the Oilers game on July 4, 2023. Depending on which city wins the King of the River food drive, that city’s mayor will be throwing the first pitch of the game. So, stock up on non-perishable food goods to donate and help your city win!

How can you help?

1. Become an event sponsor. Sponsorships start at $500.00. For each sponsor, your business name and logo will be displayed on banners at the Oilers game and 4th of July parade in Kenai, Alaska. Your business name will be broadcast on all advertising platforms used for event, including online and radio advertising.
2. Donate non-perishable food or money to the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank on July 2, 2023 at the King of the River event locations.
3. Buy Raffle Tickets from Peninsula Oilers, Kenai Peninsula Food Bank, and the Kenai Peninsula Boys and Girls Club at the Oilers game on July 4, 2023, for their respective fundraisers; or at the King of the River event.
4. Advertise the event and get your coworkers, friends, and family involved!
